Drawing has always been my natural medium within the visual arts, outside of performative practices. It is the way I give form to the ideas and emotions that move inside me. For me, it is a primordial art, simple, immediate, and essential. Pencil and paper have been my companions since early childhood, and even now they remain at the heart of how I explore and express myself.

My work is guided by expression, by trying to capture something raw and true. Each line, each stroke, is an attempt to communicate feeling, to spark reflection, to reach beyond the surface. Technique is essential to bring these ideas to life, to give form and clarity, but it serves the expression, not the other way around.

The process itself is often sudden and instinctive. Drawing is a state of spirit! Immediate, it doesn’t wait. There are moments when I feel no urge to draw at all, and then, without warning, a spark appears, compelling me to draw for hours. In those moments, everything is clear: I know what I want to create, how the image will unfold, and how to translate it from inner feeling to paper. Unlike screenwriting, where discovery often happens along the way, drawing emerges fully formed from this instant, inexplicable energy.

Charcoal is central to my practice, its black and grey tones providing grounding and depth. Over it, I layer vibrant colors, often inspired by watercolor, creating contrasts that amplify intensity and emotion. A splash of red against charcoal, for example, is meant to be felt as much as seen. Surrealism, abstraction, and raw emotion guide my hand, shaping the images while always serving expression.

For me, drawing is a way to process what moves me inside, to explore human experience, and to offer a moment of reflection to others. It is simple, direct, and honest, a personal language that continues to guide not only my drawings but everything I create.

This is a carefully curated collection of some of them. Hope you enjoy, and something sticks with you. :)

All the drawings are entirely conceived and created by me. The photographs of my work are also all captured by me and then carefully edited by Rafaela Elias.
